At approximately 8:39 PM, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from Austin County regarding a possible person and kayak in the water on the Brazos River near I-10. Once units arrived, they could hear someone calling for help from the river, confirming an active rescue situation. Waller County Office of Emergency Management was contacted for airboat support, and Constable Justin Lane and Deputy Lewis with Waller County Constable’s Office Pct. 1 responded aboard WCAB-1.
With Texas DPS Aerial Operations overhead helping locate the individual on a sandbar, the airboat crew deployed into the river, reached the victim, retrieved both the individual and kayak, and safely transferred them to waiting deputies and EMS.
Patriot is proud to see one of its boats used in the exact kind of mission it was built for — getting first responders into shallow, difficult, and time-sensitive environments where other vessels may not be able to operate. Great work by Waller County, Austin County, DPS Air Operations, EMS, and every agency involved in bringing this rescue to a safe ending.
